According to a new report from the International Monetary Fund the world’s proven reserves of argan oil will not be enough to keep up with global demand within a decade. The point at which demand for the best selling women’s (and increasingly men’s) hair, nail, and skin care oil outstrips supply is known as peak argan oil or PAO. The implications for the global economy are dire but mostly known, what is not known and has many even more worried is what will happen to women’s hair. “There can be little doubt once we reach and exceed PAO the quality of women’s hair will begin a slow, long, steady decline.” said IMF economist Tom Thurgood. “what that will actually look like is an open question and different persons have theorized a host of outcomes from a relatively minor loss of shine and bounce to complete loss of body with a wavy uncontrollable frizz out.”
Author’s note: For more hilarious hijinks from the award winning, wacky world of argan oil just search my name and argan oil. Believe it or not I am still the only writer on Medium to feature argan oil in an ongoing series of humor posts. That can’t last forever.
