I can’t believe I only just now connected you and Zizek. Fellow countrymen yes? Apologies if I am in error I mean no disrespect. You know us dumb Americans and our challenges with world geography. Anything outside our borders is generally referred to as “over there” or “not-the good old USofA” or mostly “that’s where them insert casually racist ethnic stereotypes live” I joke of course. Only about 75% of us talk like that.
I have read a two of his works. I admit to a general level of bafflement at most of the strange words, thoughts, ideas, and phrases he pours out onto the page like some crazed wordsmith with a bad case of diarrhea of the mouth. That’s not to criticize. I don’t pretend to understand most of it so am in no position to caste aspersions. I would love to see a piece from you with your take on his vast corpus of works or pick one. Perhaps you could choose one of the two I have read. I actually spent real money to purchase The Parralax View and was so mystified and confused I thought maybe I had randomly selected some weird outlier. So I gave him another chance with the “popular” First as Tragedy then as Farce” When I finished that I remember turning the last page and trying to briefly summarize what I had just digested. I drew a blank. Actually sent me into a sort of weird fugue like zen state. Then I drank a beer and went to bed. Of course I might be misremembering it was a very long time ago.
