I couldn’t agree more. Measuring something that is not actually defined, and perhaps not even definable is fraught with problems theoretical and actual. This also touches on one of my biggest beefs with AI, it simply isn’t possible to claim something is artificially intelligent when we can’t even claim to know what constitutes natural intelligence. Coincidentally or perhaps not AIs (or as I call them modern day computers) can be designed to dominate on just about any standard format IQ test. This should be reason enough to throw the IQ test into the dustbin of history where it belongs. I am working on an article discussing AIs and IQ tests currently but not sure when it will be ready to publish. In any event, nice piece as usual Marty.
