I wonder what a speculative realist would have to say about the simulation hypothesis. On the one hand it is as legitimate a way to speculate as to what the real world is (a simulation) as any other, on the other hand if the real world is a simulation, it is by definition not real, and therefore how could one still claim to be a “realist” in any logically coherent way. I suppose since, at least in SH1 version of the hypothesis, we are also simulations maybe that fact “cancels” out the problem as simulations speculating about simulated reality would seem to not have that logical problem.
