Is it possible to move beyond something that is infinite? A philosophical puzzle to be sure and yet we find ourselves faced with this very scenario when asked to “move beyond” the AI hype. I think much can probably be learned by studying the works of those who have sought to “slow down, take a deep breath, talk some sense into” the speeding out of control train-wreck of insanity that is machine learning. No doubt the two fields will intersect at some point in the future. In any event it is a fascinating area for further research even if answers or even approaches to the problem seem out of reach at the moment. Until some solution is found AI and machine learning hype will continue their seemingly infinite expansion. The hype growing at an exponential rate even as the promises and hopes of both fields seem further out of reach, not achievable at all, or not achievable with anything close to the promised abilities, with each passing day.
