It’s not just about overly complex job titles, it is also about flat out incorrect job titles. Case in point, data “science” and data “scientists”. As I have written about extensively data “science” is not science and its practitioners are not scientists. As an actual practicing scientist I am offended by the notion of non-scientists passing themselves off as such, and worried at the effect this is having/will have on the general, non technical public, who already hold many misconceptions about what science is and what scientists do.
