Research and Development in A Distributed Network Model Company

Some of the most profitable companies in the world today operate as distributed networks. It is a business model which continues to gain traction and converts across many industries. While the distributed network has many advantages over centralized and decentralized systems, like all such systems it has flaws. One of the largest of these is the difficulties it presents for research and development activities. Below I define the problem, hypothesize reasons for it, and describe some possible errors in the assumptions that underlie it.
