This was mostly a tongue in cheek argument however my “argument from pain” was not. How would you respond to that challenge? Obviously I can imagine all sorts of reasons for a future anthropologist to want to live my life, however, I have a harder time (though not impossible) imagining the one who would want to live the life of the guy/kid who gets tortured to death at age 10 by a pyschopath, or the one that dies at age 1 week, etc. Lots of people die in very, very horrible ways every day on this planet and have since we became capable of hurting each other. If we are all future anthropologists lots of us drew a real short straw. Of course the easy out is that only some of us are future anthropologists and the rest are just simulation but then we are back to a more typical simulation hypothesis variant. This would be a partial simulation variant in which we are real but the universe and possibly all or some other beings in it are simulation. This is what I call and SH3 universe. For anyone interested my descriptions of the most common SH variants is below.
