Until some major world government/bank green lights a cryptocurrency either directly (via some sort of announcement) or indirectly (via major investments of the governments own preferred financial instruments) it will be virtually impossible for these currencies to gain real traction and importance. I know they “seem” important to the people who read articles like the one I am responding to about them, but they are not. They make up the tiniest fraction of financial transactions and have close to zero political/financial clout at the moment. Amazon’s balls are about as big as Facebook’s when it comes to challenging governmental authority (that is to say nanosized) so I just can’t see this happening any time soon.
