Well put. We are basically in agreement. I think I only give the computer a bit more credit when it comes to its potential ability to recognize and translate human speech. Even speech that is garbled, or in another language, or even nonsense. Ultimately I think a computer can be trained or programmed to recognize all of these modes of speech. However, I totally agree that recognition and translation do not equal understanding. They most definitely do not equal intelligence.
