Well said. I hope you did not misinterpret my response as an accusation. It was said in jest and without malice or much seriousness of thought. My intention was only to rib you on the audacity of your book and plans. It is one thing to publish a book, another indeed to use that occasion to announce the founding of an entirely new science/religion/conceptual framework (whatever you want to call it). I think it is great but don’t forget how something like this might look to someone totally outside your inner circle of intellectuals and friends, or completely ignorant of all the things your new system takes as foundational points. To that person it would look either 1. crazy 2. pompous beyond belief or 3. scary as all hell. Number one would no doubt be the most popular response, but if many people felt you had some actual power and influence you better believe you are going to see a lot of number 3’s. I know you are not crazy and also that you are not pompous in the least, but I know you and your writings, never forget the vast vast majority of people do not.
Your points in 1–5 are commendable and I know that you truly believe in them, however, others with similar good intention, and similar value systems, have unveiled similarly grand systems and come to a bad end. Mostly because it is easy to lose sight of your value system when the super fans and rabid believers gradually supplant the rational within your inner circle. I know you do not seek to gain “believers” or “super fans” or “followers”, but just because one does not seek something or ask for something does not mean they cannot or will not get it. If that were to happen it is all to too easy to slide into authoritarianism and cultism when surrounded by people who believe everything you say and hang on your every word. After a while you may even start to think that you were wrong about #1 and think #2 was said in error, with me as the great leader, maybe kaironics can save the world. I must spread this great thing I have discovered among the people, but oh no 3–5 block me. Hmm. We can probably bend those just a little for the good of all of mankind right? With enough time they are swept away entirely.
First I doubt there is a snowballs chance in hell of you having or gaining enough super fans or rabid believers (wanted or unwanted) for this to be an issue and that is not to take a shot at your quality or the quality of your system. Second I do not in a million year believe you are weak enough to fall into that trap. However, one never knows what the future may bring and/or how your own thinking or values might evolve. Probably a good idea as a failsafe to print out your list and keep it with you all times, just in case. lol!
Congrats again man and I truly am really happy for you.
